Mark Anthony Brown, 50, from St Ann’s Road, Harringay has been sentenced to life imprisonment for violently robbing mini cab drivers.
The judge said he would serve a minimum term of 5 years.
On Friday, Brown pleaded guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court to four counts of robbery between October 3rd and October 14th last year.
The court heard he stole approximately £220 pounds and a satellite navigation system from cab drivers and then left them battered after severe physical assaults.
Detective Constable Matt Mowbray, from Hackney Borough CID, said these attacks have had a ‘lasting impact’ on Brown’s victims.
He added:
His repeated attacks left other mini cab drivers in the area very fearful for their safety.
I can only hope that this lengthy sentence serves to reassure the public, now that this dangerous man has been removed from the streets.
