Police officers in Hackney investigating a stabbing incident have been threatened by a ‘volatile’ mob of around thirty masked youths throwing bottles and other missiles.
They’d been called to Chatsworth Road at around 11.30 pm and found a young man with stab wounds to his upper body.
The London Ambulance Joint Response Unit and Air Ambulance were also on the scene.
The injured man was taken to an east London hospital where his condition is serious but not believed to be life threatening.
The unit has tweeted this image of the aftermath of the stabbing in Hackney.
The Met Police say officers ‘were threatened by a large group of around 30 people. The group had covered their faces and threw bottles and other missiles at police.’
One emergency response team officer chased and detained a suspect ‘despite continuing threats from a volatile crowd.’
An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an offensive weapon and affray.
He’s been taken into custody to an east London police station.
