Detectives are trying to trace the driver of a blue BMW which failed to stop after colliding with a pedestrian at 5 am in Osterley on Sunday morning.
31 year old Janusz Adam Partyka, who lived locally, was pronounced dead at the scene by units from London’s Ambulance Service including the Air Ambulance.
The police are appealing for witnesses and any information for what they describe as ‘a fail to stop collision.’
The incident took place on the junction of the A4 Great West Road with Wood Lane, Osterley.
Mr Partyka was found on the west-bound carriageway.
The vehicle which failed to stop has been described as a blue BMW.
All next of kin have been informed including Mr Partyka’s fiancé.
A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Merton say:
We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen a blue BMW driving away from the scene heading west-bound towards Heathrow.

No arrests have been made.
Detectives investigating the fatal collision in Osterley arrested a man in connection with the investigation.
He is 28 years old, attended a police station, and has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He was taken into custody.
The vehicle has also been recovered.
