Man charged in connection with Police officer stabbing in Walworth

A man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder following the stabbing of a police officer on Saturday evening (28/2/2015).

He has been named by police as 20-year-old Carlos Djau.

He’s expected to appear in custody at Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court today.

The incident took place as officers responded to reports of an armed man holding a baby.

The officer and a probationary colleague were called to an address in Cooks Road, Walworth.

When the police arrived to speak to the man he put the baby down but it’s alleged he attacked the officers.

The officer, who is in his 30s and from Southwark, is now recovering from stab injuries to his shoulder and head.

He has been discharged from hospital.

The Met Police Homicide and Major Crime Command continue to investigate the incident.
