Further appeal to trace victim of Islington sex attack

Islington police and  specialist officers  continue to appeal for a woman to come forward who they believe was the victim of a sexual assault on the Caledonian Road near Sturmer Way in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Despite him trying to escape the scene, the alleged attacker was apprehended by two men, one of whom had witnessed the attack.

The victim had left the scene prior to police arriving, whilst the men were busy detaining the suspect.

Detectives are also trying to trace a further witness who spoke to the victim immediately after the attack.

The victim of the sexual assault has been described as a white woman in her mid twenties with curly hair.

The 28-year-old attacker was subsequently arrested by police and has now been charged with attempted rape.

The victim and suspect are not believed to be known to each other.
