A man has been sentenced to community service after urinating from the fourth floor of a balcony onto emergency service workers in January this year.

Thames Magistrates heard 22 year old Andrew Whitehead was seen laughing and exposing himself after the incident and was soon arrested by police.

Paramedic Lorna McIlwaine was leading a victim to safety at the time.

He’d been attacked on Shoreditch High Street suffering a broken nose.

Whitehead was fined £250 and will serve 300 hours of community service.

The London Ambulance Service say such treatment of staff is unacceptable and medics should be able to care for patients without risk.

LAS specialist units followed the result of the court case on their Twitter feeds.
