18 year old youth charged with murder of cyclist Alan Cartwright in Islington last Friday

A man has been charged with the murder of 15-year-old cyclist Alan Cartwright in an incident in the Caledonian Road last Friday night.

He died from a stab wound to the chest.

Joshua Williams, 18, from Davenant Road, Archway in North London, will appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ court in custody tomorrow Saturday 7th March.

He faces two charges:  murder and conspiracy to rob.

Another 18-year-old man remains in custody after a warrant of further detention was granted.

A 17-year-old boy and a 21-year-old man both arrested in relation to this incident have been given police bail.

Update 1.09 pm Saturday 7/3/2015

Joshua Williams, 18, from Davenant Road, N19, appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ court in custody today, Saturday, 7th March, charged with murder and conspiracy to rob.

He was remanded in custody and will next appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, 10th March.

An 18-year-old man arrested on Thursday, 5th March, has been released on police bail to return on a date in late April pending further enquiries

A 17-year-old boy and a 21-year-old man – both arrested in relation to this incident have been bailed.

  1. RIP Alan Cartwright. So sad my daughter knew Alan and knew Joshua Williams brother who also died last year💔👼
