This latest incident comes just over a week after Nick Mann, a 35 year old journalist, died attempting to save his 32 year old brother Robert who had fallen onto the tracks at Old St station on March 28th.

Robert Mann remains in hospital.

Many commuters have reacted angrily to what they see as over crowded and unsafe conditions at many of London’s busiest Tube and train stations.

However in a statement released by London Underground, chief operating officer Nick Brown said:

Our emergency response team and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene. We are investigating the incident to understand exactly what happened but we have already established that while the station was busy, the platform was not overcrowded.

 Update 1/5/2015

He worked for a firm in the City of London.

The Evening Standard newspaper has published a background news article on Mr Burgess and the impact of his death on his family and friends.
