Surrey Road Police are warning kind-hearted car owners of the dangers of giving unlicensed friends driving experience, or ‘a spin in the car park.’

They attended an incident where a 16 year old behind the wheel lost control, smashed into a wall, propelling the woman car owner ‘bulls-eye’ into the windscreen.

She had been trying to supervise the situation as a front seat passenger, but was not wearing a seat belt.

Car was pranged,  damage caused to two walls and a shop, and the woman car-owner who had tried to be helpful was taken to St George’s Hospital with neck and back pain.

Police estimate damage to car and property at around £5,000.

Both unlicensed and uninsured driver and injured car owner are expected to be summonsed for motoring offences at a future date.
