Motorist jailed following death of cyclist in Clapham

23 year old motorist Samer Nayeb has been jailed for more than three years after he admitted causing death by careless driving in a fatal collision with a cyclist.

26 year old Leon Richards died from a head injury after the crash in Clapham Manor Street on 5th April last year.

Nayeb was driving a black BMW.

He evaded police for five months but was eventually arrested and charged.

He pleaded guilty to causing death by careless driving, three counts of perverting the course of justice, fraudulently obtaining insurance and failing to stop at the scene of an accident at Croydon Crown Court on Tuesday 31st March this year.

He was sentenced to three years and four months for these offences on Thursday 16th April.

He was also disqualified from driving for four years.
