Detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are appealing for witnesses to a double fatal collision in Ilford in which both a motorcyclist and his passenger died.
Police were called to the incident at 5.30 yesterday evening.
The crash involved a collision between a motorcycle and pedestrian in Woodford Avenue, Ilford near the junction with Lord Avenue.
The London Ambulance Service attended the scene.
A 20-year-old man was believed to have been riding the motorcycle with a 16-year-old boy as pillion passenger.
Both the motorcycle rider and the pillion passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.
Next of kin have been informed.
Post-mortem examinations and formal identification will take place in due course.
The male pedestrian was taken by ambulance to hospital where his condition is serious but not believed to be life-threatening.
