A woman’s fall from one of the lion statues next to Nelson’s column has led to the dramatic landing and take off of London’s Air Ambulance in Trafalgar Square.
The London Ambulance Service says the woman suffered a head injury that was treated as ‘life threatening’ after they were called to the scene around 7.30 last night.
The casualty was taken ‘as a priority’ to the Royal London hospital with a doctor from the Air Ambulance attending.
Met Police officers assisted in holding back the crowds of tourists to give the Air Ambulance a safe landing and take off area in the square.
The operation was filmed and photographed by many there and uploaded to social media.
