Tom Andrews, a member of Great Yarmouth Borough Council has been arrested and cautioned after assaulting Hope Not Hate campaigner David Braniff-Herbert.

Mr Braniff-Herbert says that the UKIP councillor and a colleague began taking photos of him as he was distributing leaflets outside Drill House.

Norfolk Police issued a statement saying:

Police investigating an assault in Great Yarmouth have cautioned a man.

Officers were called at around 11.25am this morning (Saturday 18 April) to reports that a man had been assaulted at the Drill Hall in Artillery Square.

A 72-year-old man from the Caister-On-Sea area was arrested in connection with the incident and has since been released with a caution for a minor assault.
