Two people have been taken to hospital after a house fire in Aldrington Road, Streatham, this morning damaged two floors and the roof.
A man and a woman were initially treated on the scene by London Ambulance Service before being taken for further treatment.
Firefighters evacuated residents living in neighbouring properties as a precaution.
The fire affected a terraced house of three floors.
Half of the first floor, the whole of the second floor and part of the roof were damaged in the blaze.
Station Manager Bruce Grain said:
When our crews arrived and walked up to the front door the windows on the second floor of the house blew out so they knew they were going to be faced with quite a challenging job.
Firefighters worked hard to get the fire under control quickly though and will now remain at the scene to damp down any remaining hot spots.
Crews from Norbury and Tooting fire stations attended the incident.
The Brigade was called at 10.15 and the fire was under control by 11.41.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
