Tube travel has been severely disrupted for the third day running, this time with issues on the Bakerloo and Piccadilly lines.

The Bakerloo line had to be suspended between Queen’s Park and Elephant & Castle due to a fire alert at Piccadilly Circus and a signal failure at Paddington.

The suspended part of the Bakerloo line reopened at around 11.45am but severe delays continued.

Bakerloo line operations director Peter McNaught said:

I apologise to Bakerloo line customers whose journeys were disrupted this morning.

Yesterday it was Central line passengers who suffered, with some journeys taking as long as three hours.

An engineering train derailment led to a part-closure of the line in the morning along with severe delays.

In the afternoon, a passenger under a train at Liverpool Street led to another section of the line having to close, with more hold-ups.

On Monday, there was disruption on three lines during the morning rush-hour.
