Police issue appeals after fatal collision in Barnet and serious collision in Woolwich

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following a fatal collision in Barnet.

Police were called at 7.18 PM on Wednesday 29th of April to reports a car had been in collision with a route 189 bus in Templehof Avenue.

Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found a 74-year-old man who was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed, and formal identification and a post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

Two passengers who were on the bus at the time of the collision sustained minor injuries.

Both were taken to a north London hospital as a precaution.

The bus driver stopped at the scene and no arrests have been made.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who saw the silver Ford Fiesta in the lead up to the collision or those who witnessed the incident.

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit based at Alperton are investigating.

Roads and Transport Policing officers are appealing for witnesses and information after a driver involved in a serious collision in Woolwich fled the scene.

Police were called at around 1.10 PM on Wednesday 29th of April to reports of two cars in collision on Woolwich Church Street, at the junction with Church Hill.

Officers and the ambulance service attended the scene and the driver of a dark coloured Nissan Almera, a man of 45, was taken to hospital suffering a back injury.

His condition is described as serious but stable.

The driver of the other car, a blue coloured Vauxhall Zafira, did not remain at the scene and left on foot heading towards Warwick Street.

He has been described as a man around six foot wearing blue coloured clothing. It is not known if he was injured.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation unit based at Catford are carrying out enquiries into the circumstances of the incident.

At this early stage it is understood the Vauxhall crossed the central reservation and collided with the Nissan coming in the opposite direction.
