Four fire engines and over 20 officers attended a blaze on the banks of the River Lea last night.
A 25 foot long river boat moored near Bream Close, Tottenham had caught alight and was badly damaged.
The Fire brigade were responding to a call from a member of the public, who’d heard an explosion.
The fire was under control in less than two hours.
Crew Manager Steve Hardy who was at the fire said: ‘A propane gas cylinder inside the boat was cooled down and made safe.’
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
