The shortlist for this year’s Turner Prize has just been released.
It’s an unprecedented combination including three women and a collective of activist architects called Assemble.
The Bow-based group was shortlisted for their restoration of a Housing estate in Liverpool.
When asked about the decision, Turner judge Alistair Hudson responded that anything can be art in this age.
All the other nominees are also based in London.
Other shortlisted candidates are Janice Kerbel, for her operatic composition, Nicole Wermers, for her sculpture and Bonnie Camplin, for an art installation about mental health.
