Police in Ealing investigate cricket bat attack

Police are looking for witnesses to an assault in Ealing where a 21-year-old man was hit on the head with a cricket bat.

The attack took place on Saturday 11th April after the victim went to Southall Broadway for the Vaisaki celebrations.

At around 3:15 pm he walked home through Southall Park, where he came across a group of men playing cricket.

The man was hit on the head from behind with a cricket bat as he passed them.

He fell to the floor and was left unconscious for a period of around 10-15 seconds.

Members of the public called the Police and the London Ambulance Service.

The victim was taken to a west London hospital where he was treated for a blood clot on the brain.

He’s since been discharged.

No arrests have been made, but officers from Ealing CID are investigating and enquiries continue.

DC Jaspal Bains is an officer in the case. He said:

The area was very busy that day due to the Vaisaki celebrations taking place and I am appealing to anyone that was in the area that saw this assault to contact me.
