Police are appealing for witnesses after three people were injured after being allegedly struck by a van in Dagenham.

Police responded to reports of an assault in Stansgate Road, Dagenham on Tuesday 12th May.

They came across two twenty year old men, and a 37 year old woman suffering from injuries.

They were taken to hospital and later discharged.

Detectives believe the three had been injured when a white van struck the group as they stood in Stansgate Road.

The occupants of the van, a man and a woman, got out and assaulted a 20-year-old man as he lay on the ground.

They were joined by another man driving a silver Ford Mondeo who also got out and assaulted the same man.

All three then drove off from the scene in the Mondeo in the direction of Marston Avenue.

The white van was left at the scene.

It’s believed that all parties involved are known to each other and had been involved in an earlier altercation.

Detective Constable Darren Harvey from Barking and Dagenham CID said:

This incident took place next to a play park which was busy with people that afternoon. If anyone was in the area and saw this incident, or the events leading up to this incident, I would ask them to contact police.
