In one of the most remarkable road stops in recent years, Surrey police have discovered a group of suspected illegal immigrants stowed away in the boots of high end and very expensive Maserati sports cars.
They were called to the Egham bypass at 1 pm Wednesday 20th May following ‘reports of suspected illegal immigrants travelling in the boots of vehicles on a car transporter.’
The group of people, believed to be from Vietnam, had concealed themselves in the boots.
The nine adults were arrested and a juvenile was detained on suspicion of illegal entry into the country.
Each of the cars the on the transporter was worth over £70,000.
Surrey police officers helped the suspected illegal immigrants emerging from the Maserati boots on the top tier to safety on the ground below.

The adults were transferred to the UK Visa and Immigration centre in Dover and the juvenile was taken to a custody centre, as a place of safety, to await assistance from social services.
The driver was not arrested.

The Surrey police were asked on social media why the boots had not been locked:
@VoodooRida
Pre-PDI, so couldn't be locked, and the covers are all fitted with zips around doors, fuel cap and boot...
