Incident in Hackney filmed and uploaded to Youtube. Screen-grab for public interest purposes from https://youtu.be/YXHorIrLFIc/ ‘semblance.’
A Hackney resident has uploaded video to YouTube of a group of police officers being confronted by an armed man shouting incoherently.
He is seen to run at them lunging with what looks like a sharpened instrument.
The incident is understood to have taken place in De Beauvoir Crescent, Hackney on Saturday 23rd May.
The unnamed resident says in the YouTube posting:
Before I started filming, the man and the police ran out of a nearby garden in a housing estate, the man brandishing a weapon and shouting, while other police came up from the road shouting “put it down” or “put the weapon down” at least 10 times.
The Met Police have confirmed that the assailant has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and their enquiries are continuing.
At the time of the publication of this posting the footage had attracted news coverage from the London Standard and been viewed 6,795 times.
A chief inspector in Hackney linked to the video on social media and started a debate about the advantage of tasers when police officers are threatened by dangerous situations.
Anyone who still thinks Taser isn't a good idea should watch this... youtube.com/watch?v=YXHorI… via @youtube
