Large parts of west Chelsea and Fulham have been taken over by a parade of Chelsea FC celebrating their 5th title and double success this season with the Capital One Cup.
An estimated 70,000 fans lined the route to cheer the players and their manager- the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’- Jose Mourinho.
He told Blues fans to make a date in their diary for another victory parade next year.
It’s Mourinho’s second spell at the club and with the backing of the Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich he intends to dominate English and European soccer in future seasons.
Over the public address system he said:
Thank you for everything, for all your support. Book another place for the parade next season. I hope we can give you that.
Mourinho then attempted unsuccessfully to sing a Chelsea anthem, but didn’t seem to know the words: ‘Blue is the colour, la, la, la, la.’
The departing Didier Drogba attracted a lot of attention.
Also present on the bus were Chelsea’s European Youth League and FA Youth Cup-winning squad- a sign that the West London club’s dominance of the sport extends beyond the Barclays Premiership.
Many Chelsea fans throw celery when celebrating success; something of an eccentric tradition.
Chelsea skipper John Terry, although 34, has signed a new contract.
