Two men in court accused of murdering 75 year old man in Tooting

Two men have been charged with the murder of a 75 year old man in Tooting who was apparently killed in collision with a vehicle in Tooting.

33 year old Jason Lewin from Glenthorpe Road, Morden and 30 year old John Palmer from Green Wrythe Lane, Sutton are further charged with aggravated burglary with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.

They’re appearing at Wimbledon Magistrates’ today.

The alleged murder victim has been identified as Peter Lee from Welham Road, Tooting.

A post-mortem examination held on Tuesday, 2nd June at St George’s Hospital mortuary gave the cause of his death as severe head injury.

The murder inquiry by Homicide and Serious Crime Command  began after officers were called to reports of a fight at a residential address in Welham Road, SW17 on Monday afternoon.

The Met Police said: ‘One man, aged 75, has sustained injuries consistent with being in collision with a vehicle.’

He was taken to a south London hospital where he died just after midnight Tuesday morning.

A 28-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder today has been taken to a south London police station where he remains in custody.
