America’s First Lady Michelle Obama chose a successful school in Tower Hamlets to launch her global initiative ‘Let Girls Learn’ in Britain.
She told Mulberry School for Girls:
I know what’s inside of girls like you and like me. I know…how much of a difference we can make for those around us.
The First Lady hugged some of the students and told them: ‘the world needs more girls like you.’

Michelle Obama’s campaign is fully supported by the British Prime Minister David Cameron.
Her visit confirmed a joint UK and USA partnership in the scheme and Mr Cameron recorded a special video message in support:
PM: I fully support @FLOTUS #LetGirlsLearn. It's shocking that more than 62 million girls globally are out of school
