Rotherhithe Tunnel closed in both directions after 19 year old found with critical head injuries

The Police are appealing for information and witnesses after a 19 year old man has been found with critical head injuries on the Rotherhithe Tunnel approach.

Officers from Southwark were flagged down on the south-side approach at 4.19 am after the young man was found collapsed in the road.

He was unresponsive and suffering from a serious head injury.

London Ambulance Service paramedics arrived soon after and took him to a central London hospital.

His condition is described as ‘critical.’

Officers believe they know the identity of the injured man.

Next-of-kin have been informed.

Rotherhithe Tunnel has been closed in both directions following this incident and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

No arrests have been made.

Enquiries are ongoing.
