A fire at Vauxhall Station last night has caused major disruption and chaos to train services into London today.

The fire broke out in signalling cables under one of the platforms with firefighters working throughout the early hours to put out the blaze.

LMM News reports on the situation for London’s commuters.

With many left stranded or unable to get onto trains Clapham Junction station had to be temporarily evacuated and closed due to overcrowding.

Disruptions are expected to continue until the end of the day with National Rail advising passengers to avoid using South West Trains’ services which are currently operating on only four out of eight mainlines.

Further details of which services are still running are available from South West Trains’ website.
