The Labour party has announced it would scrap proposed Theresa May’s Brexit plans for leaving the EU.

Labour says their ‘Day One’ pledge ensures the rights of the three million EU residents living in the UK before talks begin if they win the upcoming election.

While accepting the UK was leaving Europe, shadow Brexit secretary Sir Keir Starmer said ‘Labour wanted a different deal prioritising jobs and work rights’.

Labour would also seek an early deal on transitional arrangements to smooth the way for the UK’s departure in 2019.

In response The Conservatives have said only they had a clear plan for exiting the EU as they hope to take seats from Labour on 8 June in areas which voted to leave the EU.

Newcastle United promoted to the Premier League for the 2017/18 Season.

After the heartbreak of relegation last season, Newcastle United F.C fans can celebrate knowing their team have gained promotion  at the first time of asking.

Promotion was secured  – with two games remaining of the Championship campaign – with a 4-1 victory over Preston North End F.C that proved to be a lively Monday night at St James Park

The game had a flurry of quick goals, a red card and a party atmosphere come the full-time whistle.

With a brace from Ayoze Perez, a goal from winger Christian Atsu, and Matt Richie converting from the penalty spot, Newcastle saw off Preston in style.

United could still finish as Champions if league leaders Brighton and Hove Albion F.C falter in the closing fixtures of the Championship Season.

They look to put more pressure on Brighton as they travel to Cardiff on Friday evening.
