The Labour party has announced it would scrap proposed Theresa May’s Brexit plans for leaving the EU.
Labour says their ‘Day One’ pledge ensures the rights of the three million EU residents living in the UK before talks begin if they win the upcoming election.
While accepting the UK was leaving Europe, shadow Brexit secretary Sir Keir Starmer said ‘Labour wanted a different deal prioritising jobs and work rights’.

Labour would also seek an early deal on transitional arrangements to smooth the way for the UK’s departure in 2019.
In response The Conservatives have said only they had a clear plan for exiting the EU as they hope to take seats from Labour on 8 June in areas which voted to leave the EU.

The consultation will last for eight weeks with a further consultation to follow in the autumn on a detailed scheme, results depending.
