Two men have been arrested and charged by detectives investigating the murder of British model Harry Uzoka.
24 year old George Koh and 23 year old Jonathan Okigbo, both from North London, are due to appear in court at the Old Bailey tomorrow, Thursday 18th January after first appearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court Tuesday morning 16th January.
Mr Koh has also been charged with possession of an offensive weapon.
The fatal knife attack took place on the afternoon of Thursday 11th January in Shepherd’s Bush, with the 25 year-old being pronounced dead at the scene at 5 pm.
Detective Inspector Beverley Kofi of the Metropolitan Police said:
This is another tragic murder with a young male victim who has met a violent death. We believe there were a number of people involved, but we are still working to establish the circumstances and a possible motive.
We have made two arrests and continue to pursue a number of lines of inquiry. We need the public’s help to piece together what happened – who the victim was seen with, the incident itself and the immediate aftermath.
Mr Uzoka modelled for such brands as Zara and Mercedes and magazines such as British GQ.
The young model was signed to Premier Model Management, the agency that helped launch the careers of Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer and was the subject of a Channel 4 documentary The Model Agency.
A spokesman for the agency has said its thoughts were with the Uzoka family.
Since the victim has been named, there has been an outpouring of tributes on social media from the fashion industry.
Models Jourdann Dunn, ex-girlfriend Leomie Anderson and Neelam Gill tweeted pictures of their late colleague and friend, while magazines British GQ and Dazed, and brands G-Star RAW and Everlane share their condolences.
