Figures from Nielsen Book recently revealed that sales of political books have almost doubled in the last two years, with even Karl Marx’s The Communist Manifesto selling more than 16,000 copies in the last twelve months.

This apparent increase in political engagement has been evident in The Word bookshop in Lewisham, where proprietor David says he’s seen Donald Trump-related titles perform well:
Politics students at nearby Goldsmiths, University of London have also noticed increasing engagement with their subject:
These uncertain political times seem to be driving a national engagement with the subject, and east London is no exception.
