The singer, Demi Lovato, has announced that they will now identify as non-binary and will use the pronouns they/them.
The term “nonbinary” can mean different things to different people, but at its core, it’s used to describe someone whose gender identity isn’t exclusively male or female.
The star who revealed the news on social media to their fans said the decision to identify as non-binary came after a “lot of healing and self- reflective work.”
Using they/them as pronouns “best represents the fluidity I feel in my gender expression” the singer explained.
“I’m doing this for those out there that haven’t been able to share who they truly are with their loved ones,” Demi added.
Throughout their career the singer has been a supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community and back in 2016 cancelled their US tour dates after an anti-LGBT bill was passed in North Carolina.
